My kids (5 yrs old when we purchased this) love this toy. It goes with us in our car for long trips. It's true you can figure out the puzzle by looking at the background color, but that's part of the puzzle and a good logic for kids to figure out. Even once they figured that out, they still love mixing it up and putting it back together. And since it's all one piece, you don't have to worry about losing parts.

This toy didn't hold the 5 year old's attention for long. It doesn't really make different forms. If you just make sure the background color is alway the same, you get the figure. It would be helpful if the pictures of the figures were on the front, so the child could see them and match them, rather than on the back. Cute idea, but ended up being a flop.
